The adjustment process at our Stadtk\u00fcken daycares in Hamburg is also based on this model. That\u2019s why we\u2019d like to briefly and simply explain what it\u2019s all about. <\/p>

The Berlin Model is a proven approach that helps children transition into daycare in a particularly gentle way. It is based on the idea that the close bond between you and your child is the foundation for building trust even in a new environment. To ensure this process is successful, you actively support your child during the first few days. Step by step, you then take a step back while allowing the relationship with the childcare professional to grow. The adjustment process according to the Berlin Model consists of three phases: the initial phase, the stabilization phase, and the final phase. The Berlin Model is used both for settling into daycare (children ages 0\u20133) and for settling into preschool (children ages 3 and up). At Stadtk\u00fcken, we also follow a three-phase approach based on the Berlin Model. We call these phases \u201cArrival,\u201d \u201cBeing There,\u201d and \u201cParticipation.\u201d <\/p>

You\u2019ll also receive an information packet with all the important details about the daily schedule, our facilities, and our educational approach\u2014so you can be well-prepared for a smooth start. <\/p>

Settling In:<\/b> During the first phase, a primary caregiver stays with the child in the group. The child is allowed to observe at their own pace, form initial impressions, and gradually build trust\u2014in the environment, the caregiver, and the other children. <\/p>

Being Present: Once <\/b>the child feels more secure, the \u201cbeing present\u201d phase begins. The child moves around the room more independently and begins to accept initial interactions, while the caregiver remains present. During this time, we also begin introducing brief separations, which we handle very gently. <\/p>

A special companion in this phase is our Care App\u2014an app for parent communication through which we send you photos or short messages from daycare life.
