Haferblöcken Daycare Center—Hamburg, Billstedt

The Haferblöcken daycare center in Hamburg-Billstedt will welcome about 80 children.

The children are divided into two nursery groups for the youngest children, ages 0–3 (15 children per group), and two preschool groups for children ages 3–6 (approximately 25 children per group). Thanks to our cohesive group approach, every child quickly finds a sense of security and direction and can feel safe within this familiar community.

Our Haferblöcken daycare center is expected to be open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. With our family-friendly care hours, we aim to ease the burden on families in their daily lives and provide children with a loving, reliable environment throughout the day.

We see diversity as a great enrichment of our daily life at the daycare center. Every child brings their own language, culture, and personality—and that is exactly what brings our community to life. For us, linguistic and cultural integration are key building blocks that ensure every child feels understood, seen, and included. We support the children by providing sensitive guidance, language support integrated into daily life, and an attitude of appreciation that not only accepts differences but also recognizes them as strengths.

This is how the Haferblöcken daycare center becomes a place where children grow at their own pace, explore their surroundings with curiosity, and learn together how wonderful it is to be different—and yet still belong together.

At our Haferblöcken daycare center, just like at all Stadtküken daycare centers, we want to give the children a calm and loving start to their day. We welcome all children starting at 7:00 a.m. During free play time, they can settle in at their own pace and start making friends.

Around 9:00 a.m., our morning circle begins—a regular time to greet one another, listen to each other, and start the day together. After that, we usually head outside: to our large outdoor area or into the green surroundings of Billstedt. There, the children can play, explore, and experience nature with all their senses.

After a warm lunch, there is a rest period, followed by creative activities, group play, and small projects in the afternoon to round out the day.

All the children are here between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.—we make the most of this time to learn, discover, and grow together.

Our Haferblöcken daycare center is located in Billstedt, in the new Haferblöcken residential area. The address is Prachtnelkenweg 2, 22119 Hamburg. The neighborhood is young and vibrant, very close to the districts of Jenfeld, Horn, and Mümmelmannsberg.

The daycare center is located right at the entrance to the neighborhood, right next to a large playground. Öjendorfer Park, with its lush greenery and large lake, is also nearby. Here, the children can play, explore nature, and enjoy the fresh air.

The neighborhood is quiet and friendly. Many families live here, and there’s plenty of space to play and socialize. Everything is close by—so children and parents can easily get together and become part of an open and lively neighborhood.

Our Haferblöcken daycare center is located in the new Haferblöcken residential area in Billstedt. It is easily accessible by bus and train—both from the neighborhood and from the surrounding districts Jenfeld, Horn and Mümmelmannsberg.

Several bus routes run regularly through Billstedt and stop near the daycare center. From Jenfeld and Horn , for example, you can reach the Haferblöcken neighborhood by bus in just a few minutes. From Mümmelmannsberg , the daycare center is easily accessible—either by bus or via the U2 and U4 subway lines to the Billstedt stop. From there, it’s just a few minutes by bus or on foot.

For many families, the Haferblöcken daycare center is within easy walking or biking distance. The area around the daycare center features safe paths, plenty of green space, and enough room for strollers and bicycles.

This makes the daycare center easily accessible—no matter which part of the neighborhood or surrounding area you’re coming from.

Yes, of course—you can easily redeem your daycare voucher at our Haferblöcken daycare center. If you don’t have a voucher yet, you can find all all the important information about applying, and we’re happy to help if you have any questions.

Good to know: In Hamburg, every child from their first birthday until they start school has a legal right to a daycare spot—and thus also to a daycare voucher. This means that every child aged one and older is entitled to at least 5 hours of care per day, including a hot lunch —regardless of whether the parents work.

If you need care for a longer period of time—for example, 6, 8, or 10 hours a day—you can easily apply for an extended voucher. In this case, you’ll generally need to provide proof of your additional care needs—such as employment, education, or special needs.

A special educational need may exist, for example, when a child needs support with language development or integration assistance . Even if children require additional support in their development—such as through therapeutic interventions or due to individual needs—this can be grounds for an expanded voucher.
