What is a typical daily schedule like at the Mühlenhof Daycare Center?
Our day begins calmly and mindfully: Starting at 7:00 a.m., we warmly welcome the children to our Mühlenhof daycare center. During a relaxed free-play period, they can settle in at their own pace. By 9:00 a.m. at the latest, all the children are here—and we start the day together with a morning circle to set the tone for the day. After that, we usually head outside: to our spacious outdoor area or to the nearby botanical garden, where the children can experience and discover nature with all their senses. After a fresh, healthy lunch, there’s a time for rest and relaxation. In the afternoon, the children have the freedom to let their creativity run wild, play, or take part in exciting projects. All children are at the daycare center between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.—we use this core time to experience, learn, and grow together. After that, the day winds down individually, depending on pickup times.
Where exactly is the daycare center located?
The daycare center is located in the middle of a green oasis right next to the Botanical Garden in Hamburg-Wandsbek, on the grounds of the old oil mill. The exact address is Ölmühlenweg 33, 22047 Hamburg.
How is the daycare center accessible by public transportation?
The Bus line 9 and other lines stop at the nearby “Ölmühlenweg” stop in Wandsbek, which connects the daycare center to the Wandsbek Markt subway station and the Tonndorf train station. From there, it’s just a short walk to the center. Overall, thanks to this bus service and its proximity to the center of Wandsbek, the daycare center is easily accessible by public transportation.

Can I use my City of Hamburg daycare voucher at the Mühlenhof daycare center?

How do I apply for a daycare voucher?
You can apply for the daycare voucher at your local district office. You can find more information and important links here.
Important Information: In Hamburg, every child from their first birthday until they start school has a legal right to a daycare spot or a daycare voucher—this means that at least 5 hours of daily care, including a hot lunch, is guaranteed for all children starting on their first birthday (regardless of whether the parents work). Longer care hours beyond the five hours are also covered by vouchers, but must be justified and approved by the authorities—for care exceeding 5 hours (e.g., 6, 8, or 10 hours a day), proof of the additional need (such as parental employment or special educational needs) is usually required for a corresponding voucher to be issued.
